Alma Morta is a Mexican American darkwave and post-wave project based in Sacramento, California, created in cyclical rhymes for changing times and the persistent ache of longing. Built from cold electronics, bilingual songwriting, and romantic decay, the project expands through an evolving presence.

The roots of Alma Morta reach back to Northern California’s underground punk and post-punk scene. The Howling was founded around 2006 in Sacramento, initially playing a short run of shows before going inactive.
The Howling later reunited around 2010 and returned to the Northern California DIY circuit, performing at venues including TownHouse Lounge, Press Club, The Hub, Luigi’s Fun Garden, the Eagle Tavern SF, and Davis’ legendary DAM Haus.
Across its different incarnations, The Howling shared stages with Faggot, The Bellicose Minds, The Common Men, Razorblade Monalisa, UBERKUNST, No Statik, Sasha and the Shamrocks, along with Babs Johnson Gang, Death Ledger, Cat Party, Thee Informers, Armed Forces Radio, and others.
